Heating
The proposed program offers a pragmatic and cost-effective pathway to convert the entire US supply chain of unitary ACs into heat pumps. It aims to “raise the floor” for electric space heating in the residential HVAC market, delivering 45 million new installations over 10 years and paving the way for more ambitious decarbonization efforts.

The Efficiency for Access Coalition concludes the 2020 Global LEAP Awards Electric Pressure Cooker (EPC) Competition with the announcement of results from the usability testing process. 9 EPCs from 8 companies participated in testing in Nairobi, Kenya, and detailed information is available in the newly published Electric Pressure Cooker Usability Testing Buyer's Guide.

CLASP is proud to announce that we are coordinating the Clean Lighting Coalition (CLiC), a global partnership to capture the health and environmental benefits of eliminating mercury-based lighting under the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

Cooling
Rapid growth and industrialization have seen electricity consumption triple over the past decade in Vietnam, with cooling demand contributing a major portion of that growth. CLASP and our local partners kicked off a series of pilot activities that will support effective policy compliance for air conditioners and help protect markets from inefficient and low-quality products.

As we approach the 26th Conference of Parties, CLASP Associate Sara DeMartini suggests that carbon neutrality can only be achieved with nexus solutions – those that take systemic, cross-sectoral approaches that examine the relationships between resources and people.
CLASP began collaborating with policymakers in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 2016 to build regional and national capacity for the implementation of ambitious AC energy efficiency policies. This week CLASP introduces Mepsy, a new planning tool designed to help policymakers, researchers, and others assess the climate and energy impacts of appliance energy efficiency policy scenarios.
The National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA) of Pakistan announced the country’s first mandatory energy efficiency policy for electric motors in December 2020.
