CLASP’s Regional Office in Indonesia
CLASP’s Regional Office in Indonesia has been working with the Directorate General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) since 2023 to support the strengthening and implementation of energy conservation in Indonesia through setting up and improving appliances policies, developing digitalization tools for appliances policy compliance, and supporting energy labelling campaign to increase the awareness on energy labeling and speeding up the market transformation of high-efficient appliances.
To date, MEMR has issued seven (7) appliances policies related to rice cookers, refrigerators, LED lighting, fans, air conditioners, television and showcase (refrigerated display case). CLASP will continue supporting MEMR to achieve the emission reduction targets according to their Net Zero Roadmap 2060 and the enhanced NDC through appliances policies. To support its commitment, CLASP is looking for an Associate to be based in Jakarta.
About the Role
As Senior Associate your work will be critical to the success of Indonesia program. You will focus primarily on leading, planning, implementation and day-to-day execution of our projects, which seeks to enhance the implementation of energy efficiency policies at national level. You will be expected to contribute technically and at a managerial level to other programs across our portfolio.
While working closely with other teams, you will be expected to independently develop and provide technical, managerial and project management leadership on the projects in our portfolio. You will engage with many external partners, including with Government agencies, where you will represent and manage CLASP’s relationships, on several aspects of the program.
As Senior Associate, you will be expected to develop advanced technical expertise in several aspects of the program e.g. feasible business models for high appliances market transformation, appliances supply chains, and modeling. You will be expected to contribute towards the program’s expansion and sustainability through support on proposals and fund-raising.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Planning, and Implementation of Program in line with Indonesia and overall strategy of CLASP: Lead manage effective implementation of the program including development of work plans and budgets, design and implement program activities, terms of reference, execution and effective delivery; Monitor and evaluate the progress of project activities, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate progress to donors and external stakeholders; Ensure effective and timely and quality delivery of the project.
- Establish Productive Partnership within and outside CLASP: Build, manage and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders including policymakers, industry associations, implementing partners, research institutions, civil societies, and donor organizations, and serve as the focal point for many of these relationships. Act with professionalism and ethics, conform to and promotes the company’s core values of transparency, service, collaboration, and impactful.
- Research, Technical Analysis and Reporting: Plan and conduct research and data analysis, prepare and ensure delivery of reports, briefs/memo, presentations and contribute towards program outputs. Collaborate extensively with various teams within CLASP, harmonizing technical inputs, preparing reports for donors, public and policy makers, presenting outcomes and other relevant discussions.
- Communicate: Work with CLASP’s communications team to prepare and disseminate compelling stories of program success, research outcomes, lessons learned, etc.; Support team in organizing conferences, workshops, and other stakeholder consultations.
- Business and Program Development: Actively identify program development opportunities, expansion and collaborate with program manager to gather essential information, ensuring alignment of proposals with organizational goals and objectives.

Key Qualifications
- 5+ of professional experience with progressive growth in energy efficiency appliances, efficiency for access, clean energy, economics or public policy in the Indonesian context.
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency technologies, policies and markets.
- Expertise in at least two of the following: efficiency technologies of appliances used in commercial, industrial and household sectors, such as cooling appliances, e-cooking appliances, induction motors or motor system drive; efficiency financing; energy service company organization; and efficiency for access.
- Experience in renewable energy or clean energy would be an advantage.
- Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, international relations, environmental science and policy, economics, energy studies, public policy) required. Masters’ degree preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with Excel and/or other analytical software and the ability to translate analysis into policy recommendations is highly preferred.
- Good track record of managing projects, delivering project goals, including designing and leading the market research and data collection projects.
- Strong technical analysis, well proven writing skills in translating evidence-based data and information into a format easily understood by policy makers
- Ability to handle multiple deadlines, complete assignments independently, and mentor / collaborate with junior staff or peers in developing collaborative work products in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and an ability to take initiative; a drive to learn and grow on the job.
- Highly detail-oriented, and someone who gets a real sense of satisfaction from producing polished work and managing smooth and orderly processes.
