CLASP will attend the inaugural African Energy Efficiency Conference to promote the use of efficient appliances in meeting Africa’s energy challenges

The African Energy Commission (AFREC) will host the inaugural African Energy Efficiency Conference on 10-11 December 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. CLASP’s Senior Director of Africa, Emmanuel Aziebor, and Climate Manager, Angellah Wekongo, will participate in the event, where CLASP will host a panel discussion on “Appliance Efficiency as a Driver for Economic Growth and Climate Resilience in Africa.”

As the African continent faces the dual challenges of meeting rising energy demand and addressing the impacts of climate change, energy efficiency stands out as a powerful tool to drive economic growth and sustainable development. The African Energy Efficiency Conference provides an opportunity to promote knowledge sharing, strengthen advocacy and awareness, support research and development, and mobilize investment. The conference is part of Africa’s commitment to the global pledge made at COP28 to double energy efficiency improvements and triple renewables by 2030.
