This report summarizes the results of in-store standby measurements in Australia for some 573 new household appliances, undertaken in January 2003. The results are summarized by product group and are compared with readings undertaken in similar surveys in 2001 and 2002. These three in-store surveys are the beginning of a longer term benchmarking program and results need to be viewed in this light. The National Appliance and Equipment Energy Efficiency Committee (NAEEEC) proposes to undertake similar surveys in future years to assess industry progress in reducing standby consumption of appliances.
